In January, LC Packaging International has joined the Royal Netherlands Standardization Institute (NEN), the committee responsible for all packaging related standards and norms. In this committee, LC Packaging will be able to provide valuable input in the development and revision of standards at International, European and National level.
As an expert in industrial packaging solutions, LC Packaging will immediately be nominated as the Dutch representative to the ISO Working Group working on the revision of ISO 21898 related to FIBCs (precisely known as ISO/TC122/SC3/WG12).
Most countries have a structure to manage norms and standards, but each country does it a little bit differently. In the Netherlands, NEN is the authorized body to connect stakeholders to ensure that they reach agreements in standards and norms. The NEN oversees The Netherlands’ contribution to international standards bodies such as ISO and IEC and European standards such as EN. NEN is the coordinator and facilitator, with industry experts and government officials part of the more than 800 different committees.
As a member of the NEN Committee on Packaging we will be able to review and provide feedback on all standards and norms related to our packaging – from carboard, to jute to FIBCs. We can also be asked by the NEN packaging committee to join various technical committees and working groups related to specific sectors or norms.
As LC Packaging is an expert in FIBCs, we have immediately been nominated to join the ongoing revision of the ISO standard 21898 that relates to FIBCs as the Dutch representative to this international group. This group is currently made up of several international experts, testing companies, government officials and other packaging companies.
By joining NEN and the ISO working group for FIBCs, LC Packaging can demonstrate its ability to provide valuable expertise for the development of global standards. With this, LC Packaging is taking another step as an expert in the packaging industry with a focus on quality and reliability. In addition, this membership offers the opportunity to positively influence future developments and revisions by focusing on the importance of sustainable and even circular packaging.
